When selecting a region, the region often (not always) changes shape and ignores the rectangle I have chosen using the mouse.

Is this a known bug? Surely there's a solution?

How does it change shape, exactly? Does it switch e.g. from a regular rectangle to a rounded corners rectangle, then ellipse? It's supposed to do this when you press the S key on the keyboard... Could it be that you have a damaged keyboard and sometimes S key "presses itself" out of its own volition?

For my work as a technical writer, one of the main tasks I use HyperSnap for is capturing a part of the screen.

I use Ctrl+Shift+R to capture a rectangle. I then generally use the cursor keys to capture the exact region. I often need to capture a very precise region so the cursor keys give me pixel control.

I set the upper left corner and then use the cursor or Shift+Cursor to move to the right. When moving to the right the bottom right corner will often jump back to be close to the upper left corner, leaving a small square region.

I then use the keyboard cursors for a second time to select the region and it usually works on the second occasion.

I hope that's a more accurate description.

David,
I'm trying this here but can't reproduce the problem... Could you observe more closely what exactly happens, what you do when the problem occurs? Or maybe there is some vibration of the desktop and the mouse is accidentally moved? Or if you are using a laptop, mabye you accidentally touch the "touch pad" that is used on laptops instead of a mouse? I know this sometimes happens to me...

Anyway, what I do is I use the mouse to quickly move close to the first corner, then move the cursor with arrow keys for precision, press Enter to accept the first point. Then I use mouse again to get close to the second point, and then user arrow keys to get the precise position, press Enter to finish capture.
